Davy's Birthday Guest - BJ the Clown

Many months ago, on one of the many visits to the local library Alisha makes with the boys, they caught a performance by a local clown with the name of "BJ the Clown". The show was a big hit with all the kids. Alisha thought ahead and talked to him after the show to find out if he entertained birthday parties. He said he did and Alisha scheduled him for Davy's birthday.

Davy had thirteen friends over for his birthday. The house was full of noise and energy as we waited for his special guest. We were nervous. When BJ rang the doorbell, all the kids went crazy and ran to the front door. He walked in and within a few seconds, they were all sitting down with their eyes on the clown.

He entertained them for 45 minutes. He had them laughing uncontrollably. He had all sorts of magic and games set up and took time to give each child the spotlight.

Davy loved it. Davy had a great sixth birthday party. He loved all of his gifts. We have been building Legos for three days now. We stil have more sets to go. Thank you to all for his birthday wishes and gifts.

Father's Day

Father's Day was very special this year. I have so many kids! I love each of them and I thought it would be nice to share a few thoughts about each of them.

I received a new lawn mower for Father's day. Actually, I bought it myself from Home Depot a couple of weeks ago to prevent the lawn from getting out of control. It is a beautiful lawn mower. Whoever designed it, did a great job. It is cordless and electric. Whitman was mesmerized, as our previous lawn mower was an old school push mower. I was at Fred Meyer on Saturday and noticed a bubble mower (pictured above) on sale and bought it for Whitman. He spent the rest of the day "mowing" the lawn. He must have been out there for five or six hours methodically walking back and forth mowing each inch of the lawn multiple times.

I caught Whitman playing in the fire pit the other day. I couldn't tell what he was doing and then I saw his incredible sculpture he was working on. He's a regular Patrick Dougherty.

Uh-oh, charcoal in his eye

He isn't afraid to get dirty for his art.

Later in the day, after a change of clothing, back from his "art" pit. I adore Whitman. He isn't afraid of anything and perceives no boundaries. At the end of the day, he loves to snuggle up to me and hear me list off all the things he did during the day.

Here is Davy after playing in the sprinklers outside. Davy is always in search of fun. He wants to entertain and to be entertained. He is a very good friend to both of his brothers and is patiently waiting for his sister to grow up so she can play too.

This is Trevor after scoring a spare. Trevor loves games. He loves being a winner and the satisfaction of beating something that seemed impossible. Trevor and I play lots of games together like Stratego, Agricola, Dominion, Settlers of Catan, and Risk.

Now to the girls...

Violet is the sweetest little girl. She is often happy and smiling. When she isn't, she is either eating or sleeping. Her disposition is best described as "adorable". She knows it.

Alisha takes the title "home maker" and gives it a whole new meaning. Our home is amazing. It is beautiful, full of personality, and she infuses it with a wonderful spirit. Today for Father's Day, she made me a wonderful dinner of steak and crab, spinach salad (from our garden), cheddar biscuits, and finished it with ice cream sundaes with the best chocolate sauce I have ever tasted. I love this photo of her. Davy was using the video camera and snapped this picture of her as she was baking.

And finally, I am thankful for my father. I don't see my dad as often as I'd like, but when I do, I cherish every minute. I hope to see him soon.
